ROBIC is looking for a Chemical Engineer to join our team as a Technical Advisor in patents (Patent Agent in training). The selected candidate will contribute to drafting patent applications in collaboration with patent agents recognized as experts in their respective fields (engineering, science, etc.).

 

This position is an excellent opportunity to learn and be trained by highly respected patent agents. We offer strong training for candidates aspiring to take the exams and become patent agents.

Responsibilities

  • Work with inventors to gain an in-depth understanding of their technologies and identify solutions to protect their intellectual property
  • Draft patent applications in Canada and internationally;
  • Prepare opinions on patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom to operate;
  • Apply scientific knowledge daily in a creative and innovative business environment within a legal framework;
  • Meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively;
  • Communicate with clients verbally and in writing to respond to their requests.

Requirements and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering (an asset)
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: process design and control, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and separation processes
  • Academic or professional experience in chemical engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Publications as first author in a reputable scientific journal (an asset)
  • Ability to understand complex concepts
  • Professionalism and business acumen
  • Autonomy, initiative, and resourcefulness.
