The role

We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join our dynamic Trademark team. In this role, you will be part of a group of thirteen passionate paralegals and will work closely with some of the most respected intellectual property lawyers in Canada. Reporting to the Paralegal Supervisor, you will actively contribute to a variety of files involving trademark strategy and prosecution, in an environment where rigor, collaboration, and professional development are part of everyday work.

 

While experience in intellectual property is considered an asset, it is not required. ROBIC provides comprehensive training in trademarks to help you develop your expertise and thrive in your role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file trademark registration applications in Canada and abroad
  • Analyze and comment on examination reports received in relation to these registration applications
  • Communicate with foreign associates and clients (in French and English)
  • Verify the status of files and prepare summary reports
  • Monitor trademark files and manage deadlines
  • Conduct legal research (using both traditional tools and databases or the Internet)
  • Draft certain procedural documents before the Trademarks Office, including written arguments
  • Develop strategies for the adoption, protection, development, and commercialization of trademarks
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Requirements and skills

  • Three-year college diploma in Paralegal Technology (technical DEC)
  • Experience as a paralegal and/or in the field of trademarks
  • Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written
  • University certificate in law (an asset)
  • Strong sense of autonomy and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ease and interest in teamwork
  • Professionalism and strong client service skills.
