ROBIC is seeking a dynamic Supervisor, Patent Paralegals to lead, motivate, and develop the Patent Paralegal team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage a team of six (6) patent paralegals, supported by the team's Coordinator. In this role, you will ensure the team achieves the firm's strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality, client service, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
Management (50%)
- In collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders, ensure team members receive the necessary training to achieve the highest operational standards.
- Continuously monitor industry best practices and ensure that internal processes and procedures remain aligned with market standards.
- In collaboration with the Director of Operations, establish relevant KPIs and monitor performance against them (e.g., utilization rates, activity tracking, etc.).
- Plan, organize, and lead team meetings in collaboration with the Team Coordinator.
- Prepare and conduct one-on-one meetings, providing constructive feedback to support team members’ professional development.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in Operations Management Team meetings.
- Communicate procedural changes from various patent offices and participate in training sessions provided by those offices.
- Respond to questions from team members, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure quality control of completed work and compliance with established procedures.
- Ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
- Provide coverage for other Supervisors during vacations and absences.
Human Resources (20%)
- Participate, in collaboration with Human Resources, in interviews and selection processes for Patent Paralegal positions.
- Support the onboarding and integration of new employees.
- Establish performance standards for the team and provide coaching and guidance as needed.
- Assess team members’ skills and performance, ensuring they are aligned with the firm's objectives.
- Manage employee relations and performance-related matters in collaboration with the Human Resources team.
- Approve team members’ vacation requests, absences, and overtime.
- Provide performance feedback during annual review meetings.
- Foster team engagement and alignment around shared goals.
- Act as a positive change agent and encourage team members to embrace organizational changes.
Patent Paralegal Responsibilities (30%)
- Maintain a thorough understanding of internal processes and the Patent Paralegal function.
- Update internal procedures, training materials, and reference guides as needed.
- Perform Patent Paralegal duties as required to support the team’s success and overall operational effectiveness.
Requirements and Skills
- Diploma in Paralegal Technology, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B./LL.D.), or any other relevant combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Paralegal.
- Excellent proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
- Experience in patent law is considered an asset.
- Experience leading or managing a team is a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage a team.
- Sound judgment and strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
