The Opportunity.

 

Smart & Biggar is currently looking for a Business Analyst to join our National Finance Team on a 12-month contract.

 

As a Business Analyst, you will help lead the implementation of centralized billing and broader finance transformation initiatives across our firm. You'll work cross-functionally with finance, billing, trust, A/R, legal professionals, IT, and operations defining requirements, streamlining processes, and supporting the change management that makes a firm-wide implementation stick. Responsibilities.

  • Lead discovery sessions and stakeholder consultations across billing, e-billing, trust accounting, cash application, collections, and revenue operations
  • Document current and future-state processes, and develop business requirements, user stories, process maps, and gap analyses
  • Identify opportunities to standardize billing practices across offices and practice groups
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, implementation partners, and technical teams
  • Partner with project managers on scope, risks, timelines, and phased deployment strategies
  • Support change management, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, training materials, and user readiness
  • Support data mapping and cleansing, and define reporting requirements, KPIs, and dashboards
  • Validate system workflows against process documentation and flag gaps

Qualifications, competencies and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience supporting enterprise transformation and change management
  • Strong understanding of financial, revenue, trust, A/R, and billing processes
  • Skilled in requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement, with strong Excel and data analysis abilities
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Law firm or professional services experience, knowledge of legal billing concepts, and familiarity with Elite 3E are strong assets
  • CBAP, CCBA, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are an asset

 

 

Compensation.

The base salary for this role will be positioned between $90,000 - $105,000 taking into consideration factors such as location, job-related knowledge, prior experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
