About the Role

We are seeking a Market Growth Manager to join Spruson & Ferguson on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing parental leave cover.

As Market Growth Manager, you will collaborate closely with Spruson & Ferguson to shape client and market strategies while driving forward growth initiatives across the firm.

Embedded within a high-performing business development team, you’ll deliver best-in-class support across the firm. This is a client-facing role offering a dynamic opportunity for an experienced business development professional to make a meaningful impact during this 12-month period.

The role is open to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, and we are open to considering candidates seeking either full-time or 0.8 FTE arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the firm’s growth strategy, with a particular focus on key industries and revenue growth in identified jurisdictions.
  • Develop expert sector and industry knowledge to identify, qualify and drive the pursuit of opportunities.
  • Work closely with Practice Group Leaders to drive business development strategic plans, including day-to-day business development, client and market analysis, and profiling.
  • Support the execution of and provide advice on strategic associate relationships, working closely with Principals to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Develop new business opportunities through financial analysis, market analysis and competitor research.
  • Lead and manage priority directories, pursuits, capability statements, tenders and proposals.
  • Project manage international conferences, client-focused trips and associated client events, including tracking ROI and success measures.
  • Support the firm’s Client Feedback Program through client debriefs and working with senior team members to continually improve client experience.
  • Work collaboratively with Spruson & Ferguson Asia business development colleagues and professional staff to support the success of APAC-wide client and sector initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain business development and marketing databases, records and templates.
  • Manage business development reporting on key growth initiatives back to the business.
  • Assist in mentoring and coaching attorneys and lawyers to build business development capability and confidence.
  • Assist in the implementation of key IPH Group initiatives for the firm.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to build brand awareness through content, thought leadership and profile-raising activities, ensuring brand activities align with related business development activity and the overall strategic vision of the firm.
  • Support media campaigns, award submissions, online and social media activities, and other relevant communications activities and materials.

About You

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Around 3 - 5 years of professional services experience in a similar role, with relevant experience in business development, client growth or professional services. 
  • Prior experience in pursuit processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive, collaborative and hands-on approach.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with team members to ensure individual and shared goals are delivered to a high standard.
