The role

We are seeking a driven Learning & Development Manager to join our team at IPH Canada. Some travelling within Canada may be required.

We are looking for an excellent facilitator who has a passion for delivering engaging and impactful learning experiences!

The Learning and Development Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping learning capability across the Canadian region, with an initial focus on leading the end-to-end facilitation of a newly designed Leadership Development journey to build future-fit leadership capability. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an accomplished L&D professional who can work across the full learning lifecycle—partnering with stakeholders to identify needs, design engaging learning solutions, facilitate with confidence and credibility, and evaluate impact for continuous improvement. In addition to owning the successful delivery of key regional programs, the role will support the creation and rollout of blended learning solutions aligned to the global Learning & Development strategy, while balancing regional priorities and working closely with regional and global HR teams.

Responsibilities

Learning Design and Delivery

  • Design, develop and facilitate engaging learning and capability-building programs for employees across member firms and corporate services and support functions.
  • Lead high-quality facilitation of leadership, professional skills, systems, and other learning programs.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that build confidence, capability, and performance.
  • Partner with HR colleagues, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders to design and deliver blended learning solutions, including workshops, virtual learning, eLearning, and curated learning pathways.
  • Translate business needs into practical, learner-centred solutions that support performance today while building future-fit capability.
  • Identify opportunities to embed learning across the employee lifecycle and key people processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, talent, and succession.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using feedback, insights, and data, and continuously refine programs to improve learner experience and business impact.
  • Contribute to the development of a scalable, connected learning ecosystem that aligns capability building to enterprise priorities, cultural expectations, and future workforce needs.
  • Support the evolution and embedding of the IPH Capability Framework in partnership with HR Business Partners and HR Operations.
  • Stay current with contemporary learning practice, facilitation approaches, and digital learning trends, bringing fresh ideas and practical innovation into the learning experience.
  • Promote a culture of continuous, agile learning, curiosity and growth across the Group and member firms that build adaptive capability.
  • Contribute positively to the broader L&D and HR team culture by role modelling IPH values, collaboration, and inclusive practice.

Learning Management System (LMS) Implementation and Support

  • Support the ongoing evolution and embedding of the Group’s LMS to strengthen learner engagement and adoption across member firms and the broader Group.
  • Manage learning content, curricula, and pathways within the LMS, ensuring materials remain current, relevant, and aligned to business priorities.
  • Generate and interpret learning data and reports, providing insights on participation, completion, engagement, and effectiveness to inform decision-making.
  • Function as a key point of contact for Member Firm LMS Administrators, providing guidance, support and training as required.
  • Contribute to system testing, upgrades, and continuous improvement of LMS processes and learner experience.
  • Partner with Group IT, Transformation and Member Firms to provide learning expertise for system implementations, process changes, and workflow improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence

  • Build strong, trusted relationships across HR, corporate services, member firm leaders, Managing Directors, Practice Group Leaders and other key stakeholders that signal commitment to and buy in for enhancing learning culture and capability.
  • Influence and create buy-in for the L&D strategy and learning initiatives by demonstrating value, relevance, and alignment to business priorities.
  • Coach and support stakeholders through strong facilitation, feedback and capability-building approaches that model high-performance leadership behaviours.
  • Partner closely with HR teams to align messaging, priorities and approaches, strengthening engagement with the global L&D function and increasing awareness of available support and learning solutions.

Requirements and skills

  • 8+ years’ experience in Learning & Development, capability, organisational development, or a related field, with proven delivery across the full learning lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating blended learning solutions across leadership, onboarding, systems/process training, and professional skills.
  • Experience in a legal, professional services or similarly complex stakeholder environment, with exposure to both client-facing/professional and corporate services populations, a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools such as Articulate 360 and/or Captivate, and experience supporting or administering an LMS, including content management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Relevant qualifications in learning, education, HR, or organisational development are preferred; training and assessment certification is advantageous.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, with the ability to engage, challenge and inspire learners at all levels.
  • Strong end-to-end learning design capability, translating business needs into practical, engaging solutions.
  • Credible and collaborative, with the ability to work independently and function as a trusted learning partner in a global team environment.
